A while ago I came across a creative meme that is called What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It is all about showing what is going on on your workdesk and is hosted by Julia from Stamping Ground. I really like participating, because it is an easy way to show you what I have been working on, and it is fun to visit some other participants :)
Lately I have been pinning all kind of things related to art journals. And I thought it would be fun to finally do something in that area. So when I saw a technique where you use gesso on patterned paper I got right on it!
I normally only use gesso to prime my canvasses, so this was new. After this point I got a huge block though not knowing what I could do next.
I ended up doing so simple stamping techniques, but it took me a few days to get there. And after that my block still wasn't gone.
The purpose was to make art journal cards from them all along. But I didn't know what would be a good moment to cut them apart. But yesterday I decided I would just do it, so I could continue collage style. This is how I left it yesterday and the picture was taken this morning and that would have been what I would have shown you.
But then finally the inspiration hit and I got ideas to make and finish one card! I am not sure if I should use varnish on it though. It would make it sturdier to send, but I have no idea what it will do to the looks of the card. That is something I will need to test first. That being said, if you have some tips or know tutorials on art journaling for beginners (note the beginner part), or even on how to finish off cards like this, it would make me really happy if you could share them. I myself want to share a link to a free 101 artjournaling online course by Kristal Norton that I am currently following. I am only at day 5 though, so probably more on that later.
