WOYWW: School update

A while ago I came across a creative meme that is called What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It is all about showing what is going on on your workdesk and is hosted by Julia from Stamping Ground. I really like participating, because it is an easy way to show you what I have been working on, and it is fun to visit some other participants :)

My workdesk isn't always at home. Once a month I have a lesson at school. Today I am sharing pictures of my last school day and my workdesk there. We were learning a technique with fine sand (the one use you use in a birdcage.

We had to paint a colorful background at home to work on. I choose spring colors.

Then we had to mix the sand with gesso. Put a thick layer on there and make a pattern in it to bring back some color.

Paint to accent the pattern.

Finished product.

It is an interesting technique but very messy. I don't have pictures of the actual process because I didn't dare to take out my phone ;)

WOYWW: Homework and some small projects

A while ago I came across a creative meme that is called What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It is all about showing what is going on on your workdesk and is hosted by Julia from Stamping Ground. I really like participating, because it is an easy way to show you what I have been working on, and it is fun to visit some other participants :)

This is a piece I did for my expressionism homework. I hate to paint humans, but that was the assignment ;) I am not displeased with the final result, but I rather paint nature or something, haha. This is oil paint on cardboard with a black gesso background. I painted this over a week ago and the oil paint is still wet. I might need to dry blow it :S

I made some red-white themed snail-mail. I think this might be the last of the year, with x-mas coming up and all. I love working on stuff like this when I have some time.

I also did another stamp collage, this time with the winter / x-mas stamps I collected from last year. Those are really fun to make :) And I have to use my stamps in some way, because I have way too many at this point ;)

Lastly, I made some wintery cards for my Project Life that I am starting in the new year. I just traced original PL cards and this paper is sturdy enough. I am probably going to pimp them more later on. I am looking for Project Life blogs to follow for inspiration, so if any of you know fun PL blogs, please let me know :) I am still a bit overwhelmed with it all.

Have a nice Wednesday all :) I will be hopping by before my yoga class :)

WOYWW: Homework and snailmail

A while ago I came across a creative meme that is called What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It is all about showing what is going on on your workdesk and is hosted by Julia from Stamping Ground. I really like participating, because it is an easy way to show you what I have been working on, and it is fun to visit some other participants :)

I wasn't here for a few weeks, because I just didn't feel like blogging, or pretty much anything because my energy level was so low, and I had trouble keeping up as it was. I did manage to fit in some creativity, apart from the required homework ;)

I had to make some more impressionism homework, so I did a still life of fruits. I had some trouble with the background because I didn't want to paint by eye, because all the mess in the house didn't need to on the painting. So I tried something free form. Very un-impressionism ;)

And some mushrooms. I just love mushrooms :)

I also made this ATC a few weeks ago, but waited with posting this before it was received. Sadly it never arrived. I am now working on a new one.

And I made a postcard collage for a swap. I did the backgrounds way back. I still have 3 of these backgrounds left which I will turn into future collages as well :) Well this is it from me, short and sweet :)

WOYWW: Finished the painting

A while ago I came across a creative meme that is called What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It is all about showing what is going on on your workdesk and is hosted by Julia from Stamping Ground. I really like participating, because it is an easy way to show you what I have been working on, and it is fun to visit some other participants :)

This week it is short and sweet because the only thing I have to show you is the finished painting that I started at school.

I didn't take a close up because it is impressionism and that can better be viewed from a bit of a distance.
On the background my messy desk and my autumn trees wallpaper. I did make an ATC this week as well, but I can't show that yet. But other than that I did mainly read. I had this huge book about van Gogh that I wanted to finish. Anyway, today I will do more impressionism for my homework, but first a bit of desk hopping ;)

WOYWW: Autumn is here!

I have been very creative in the past week, and while I don't really like autumn because it is getting colder, the autumn colors are splendid for crafting :) I even made some autumn decoration.

I made one more autumn card :) I am planning to make some more, but I am waiting on new 3D sheets I ordered. The ones I used so far, are from last year. The autumn cards will be going out in swaps and to penpals :)

Last weekend I had some friends over for a autumn related weekend. We decided to make a fall wreath. I saw it on Pinterest and I really wanted to make one. I didn't hang mine because the moss can fall off, because I can't glue every little bit on the wreath, but I like it on the table with a candle in the middle. Don't you think the tealight in the candle holder looks a bit like an apple this way?
There are a lot of links to wreaths on Pinterest but this is the one that inspired me. Which is funny because it isn't really a wreath at all ;)

Please head over to Trish from Love, Laughter and a Touch of Insanity, for a Pin it and Do it Challenge! It is so fun! I participated many times before :)

And lastly, this is my homework. I had to make a couple of fast paintings on music and see if there is a theme. Then I have to make a bigger painting with that theme in mind. It is all intuitive painting. Obviously, the painting isn't done yet, but this is my progress so far. To be continued ;)

WOYWW: First school day

A while ago I came across a creative meme that is called What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It is all about showing what is going on on your workdesk and is hosted by Julia from Stamping Ground. I really like participating, because it is an easy way to show you what I have been working on, and it is fun to visit some other participants :)

This week school started again, and because I do a creative education, I will share my school related projects here as well :) But I also did some crafting at home.

I made these 3 autumn cards! I love autumn related cards and I think that people don't send them enough :) So I plan to send some out myself this year :D The bottom card is more a dark red btw, but the daylight made it look like hot pink, haha. If someone wants to trade, the two bottom ones I can still send out :)

This picture is made at school. The assignment was to paint intuitive. You had to use only dark colors to paint your shadow side. We worked with acrylics and we had to work in layers, so we had to thin our paint with a medium. I never used a medium before, but it was fun to work this way!

In the afternoon we had to bring back the light. But working light over dark is quite the challenge!

This is the end result! I took these pictures this morning. I did bring more harmony in the painting by using only nuances of blue, purple and dark red in the background top layer.

But the fun thing is, that you still see the other colors coming through. My phone has troubles catching all the colors though. I need to take better quality pictures from the painting, but I wanted to post them this week already :) But I think the 2nd pic does show the color nuances :) From now on, you can expect homework assignments again in WOYWW :)

WOYWW: Just having fun

A while ago I came across a creative meme that is called What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It is all about showing what is going on on your workdesk and is hosted by Julia from Stamping Ground. I really like participating, because it is an easy way to show you what I have been working on, and it is fun to visit some other participants :)

The dog we got last week, is still eating most of my time, but I did manage to do a lot last Sunday, because I put my BF on dog duty ;) The rest I just did in between :)

Last week I made 1 large bases paper for some ATCs, and this week I continued with that :)

I just doodled over some watercolor and used some extra things on some of them. The flower is already in the mail for a swap, and the birds will probably fly off to some penpals of mine. I have 3 more ATC backgrounds laying around from this series, so I might make more next week.

This week I also made 2 pages for the Summer Sketch course by Alisa Burke. This was start with a splat.

And this is the space between page, where we have to color the inbetween space instead of the main subject. But honestly, I liked the B&W version better. At least I was able to use all those doodle flower pins on Pinterest for inspiration :) Have a good week you all!

Homework Assignment: Jackson Pollock

Today I have a creative post again to share. For a homework assignment with the theme energy, we had to paint a Jackson Pollock like sheet. Jackson Pollock is an action painter, or was... I kind of forgot in which time period he was around. Anyway: action painting is all about letting go and just splatter with paint on a canvas or sheet and just have fun with it.

For me it was a bit hard because I live in a tiny apartment and this is bound to be messy. So on one of the last sunny days of the year I just tossed some supplies off the balcony and painted my sheet in the grassy area there. It was hard because it is a public area and I never painted in a public area. But in the end I had a lot of fun experimenting. It is all about using your paints mixed with different amounts of water so you can toss or drip the paint. Here is my sheet (still wet) in different angles.

Luckily it was a quiet day and I didn't really encounter people. Only a dog and of course my own cats who came down to see what for silly thing I was doing. I can see myself tossing some paint around more often, only not likely on a sheet again, because I have no idea what to do with it now ;)
