WOYWW: Summer Sketch Course

A while ago I came across a creative meme that is called What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It is all about showing what is going on on your workdesk and is hosted by Julia from Stamping Ground. I really like participating, because it is an easy way to show you what I have been working on, and it is fun to visit some other participants :)

This week I worked mainly on the Summer Sketch course by Alisa Burke that I am taking. But I haven't done as much as I would have liked. The reason for that is at the end of this post ;)

This is the background that I made last week and now I doodled over it with my new white permanent marker. It is a bit too crowded for my taste, but it was fun to do.

This is the embellish a line assignment. It also gave me the chance to finally try some of those Zentangle patterns I pinned on Pinterest :) I worked on this page off and on for a whole day. It is fun to do in between. There are a lot more assignments waiting for me, and I can only hope to find the time to do more of them :)

For a watercolor ATC swap I made a background last night. I will probably work some more on those today. I thought I would make multiple ATC backgrounds in one go :) The results should be in next weeks post :)

And this is the reason why I haven't done more on the creative area in the past week. This is our new family member Rinoa. We adopted her from Bulgaria and she arrived last Sunday at our home. She requires a lot of extra attention at this point, because she needs to be socialised. But she is a real sweetheart.
She was living on the streets of Bulgaria, was probably abused and they drowned her pups. She is only 1.5 years old. But she is starting to feel at home and it turns out, she is quite a mischievous one! It might be an insult to all parents, but to me it feels like we just had a baby ;) Together with the fun and frustrations. Our cats also have to get used to the new family member, and while they mostly ignore each other, not everything goes smoothly yet.

  1. Beautiful colours and creative doodles. I must have a go at zentangles one of these days. So many ideas so little time! Your new family member looks gorgeous and I hope he settles in well with you. Thanks for stopping by today. We watched My Neighbour Totoro last week so you can probably see where she got her inspiration.

  2. How wonderful that you adopted this poor dog :-) I hope she soon settles and realizes what fabulous people you are :-D

Wonderful art creations too... I really love the top one and don't thinks it's too busy at all :-)

    Happy WOYWW

  3. Uniflame, I love your embellish a line project, Such fun and clearly an ongoing project. What do you do with it next.
And Riona is so gorgeous, I can understand that it feels like having a new baby. The only way to help her is to love her so that she knows that you are there to help her and in wanting to please you, as leader of the pack, she will learn to do what you want
Bless you, hope everything goes well with her.

  4. Aaaw, so sweet of you to adopt Rinoa, I am sure she will settle once she knows she has a permanent home.
Love your watercolour withe white inking, it doesn't look too busy to me, just fabulous! Do you make one big sheet and then cut it up into ATC sizes? Why don't I do that? I make everything ATC size from the outset! LOL Annette #1 for the first time in 4 years!

  9. That art course looks fab, love the work you have done so far.

Rinoa is stunning, well done for adopting her, what a sad tale. I know what you mean about having no time now though, our new rescue dog has been with us just over 2 months now and I would say he is slowly starting to settle in, we are his 4th home and he never had training or socialisation either, just a bit younger than Rinoa at 16 months when we took him on.

  13. I love your doodle page. As a mom of 5 human kids, I also consider my 3 dogs like children as well. My dogs think they are humans. I think you adopting Rinoa is awesome. One of my dogs is a rescue dog as well. She was on doggie death row when we adopted her. She is now 18 yrs old, we have had her almost 14 yrs now. I think your new baby is beautiful. Have a great weekend. (((HUGS)))
