WOYWW: Snailmail and Sketches

A while ago I came across a creative meme that is called What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It is all about showing what is going on on your workdesk and is hosted by Julia from Stamping Ground. I really like participating, because it is an easy way to show you what I have been working on, and it is fun to visit some other participants :)

So in the past week I have been busy cleaning up the mess on my desk, and messy it was. It always gets like that during the last school month. But at the end of this post, finally a picture of my whole desk ;) First some things I worked on in the past couple of weeks.

A purple themed snailmail for a themed swap within the LiveJournal community I am active. I love to make color themed snailmails but it can be challenging to find things that match.

Also some cupcake themed snailmail that I made. I love patterned papers but I do not always know what to do with it, so I use them way less than I would like.

A casual duck sketch. I really need to sketch more this summer. I did one from a picture I made myself earlier.

And some more snailmail I sent out. I like the froggy envelope haha.
These envelopes I made for The Summer Of Color. The colors are citron green and turquoise. I grabbed some envelopes and used colored inks on them. Then I used some cat stamps to make a cat themed mail art out of it. They both went in the mail already, so I hope that the person who gets them will like them :)

There is a cool series going on at swapbot. A draw 30 minutes swap. It took me more than 30 minutes but it was fun :) I decided to join these swaps to help me with my sketching. I set up this sketch directly in color.

And here is my workspace! And this is neat for me. I know that most people have more nifty shelves, drawers and boxes to put things away in. But mine is set against the window. So apart from buying some more boxes (which I intend to do, I don't have much space on my desk to clear things away. I do have a build in closet though across from the table where I keep most of my stuff. This used to be our dining table and it is in the back part of our living room. But ever since I started my education we didn't have dinner there. I can't constantly clear away my stuff, so we just decided that this would be my crafting area. This might sound weird, but in a small apartment with only 1 bedroom, this was what we choose to do. I do have a protective plate on the table though, so that paint isn't actually on the table ;)

  2. Wow, such a lot going on! I love the duck drawing - very delicately done, and I love the different themes for your snail mail swaps - I love getting hand written mail rather than emails, but people don't have the time for it now - so swapping sounds a great idea! Hope you have a great week, and thanks for stopping by.

  7. Makes sense to me..use it to it's maximum potential...clearing the table off to eat really becomes a pain! I think your sketching skills are marvellous. And your mail art..have you seen the Dutch magazine Featuring: ? it's got a great website and they have a really good mail art gallery.
